A home welcoming

So while we were in the states and Aaron was home alone he was very busy getting the house ready to surprise me when I got home!! One disadvantage of living in Costa Rica is the lack of shopping, if you want descent furniture you have to pay for imported stuff which runs about 2x as much as in the states... Or...you have Marvin make it. Marvin works for Giff and is unbelievable in his craft. So since we moved Aaron has been designing what we need and having Marvin whip it up...all of the woods are from trees from this farm and they are unbelievably beautiful. Here is what I returned to!!

Two rolling storage boxes

Beautiful candle holders throughout my bedroom!!

Awesome bar stools

Sofa, chair and tables

HORRAY!!! THANKS LOVE, YOU ARE THE BEST:):):)

Once there was a #4 and now there are no more...

No more locks that is...its a sad day, Riley got his very first hair cut yesterday... I cried of course. His beautiful blond locks were divine, they curled, they twisted, they made you wanna run your fingers thru them. Unfortunately they were dripping wet daily since we have been back home and I couldn't bear to see him sweat so much. With the decision made, Aaron pulled out the clippers and a #4 and off it went. Of course I saved a bit of it...here are some photos of the devastation.

Snow...in October?

Okay okay snow in October is not unheard of but come on, in the first week? EESH!! We were totally not prepared to get snow on this trip, however it turned out to be a lot of fun!

Yesterday morning after the big snow fall (I would say we got about 6") Jax and I bundled up to shovel the driveway. As I was laboring, heaving the heavy wet snow up up and away, Jaxon was behind me shoveling the grass, making sure to land his pile right where I had just cleared...So I asked him, "Jax, why don't you stop shoveling the grass and come help me with the driveway." To which he replied, "No cuz I LOVE (big emphasis on the word love here) to shovel the grass. When my dad was a kid he loved to shovel grass too." And there ya have it. Question answered.

After the driveway was all set we decided to take advantage of the wet snow and make a snowman. I don't know the last time any of you made a snowman but let me tell you, it is not easy. I tried the process of rolling the ball around but it basically broke and blobbed...so it was a pieced together snowman...while I was slaving away Jaxon was next to me balling and throwing snowballs at me the whole time, each one came with a signature Jaxon grunt as he chucked them at me...it was pretty funny.

The wet snow had taken its toll on many trees so we snagged some branches off of a fallen limb for arms and borrowed some leaves and flowers from moms once pretty, now soggy plants...all in all it was a fun day and our snowman turned out okay:)

Last night we went on a boot hunt so today we were able to a bit of sunshine while playing in the snow! Riley really really really enjoyed eating the snow and just sort of stood there with a snowball in his hand eating away while Jax made snow angels and ran around.

Here are some pics of our snow fun!!

Take a look at the tree hanging over the driveway...this is early Sunday evening.

This was around midnight, notice the tree hanging even more...

Monday morning, snow hovering over car...really there is a car under there!

Our snowman!!
Riley eating the snow...yum!

We Heart the Hegwers

Every time we come home we fly thru Denver and get to spend time with my favorite friends Anna and Cory and their kiddos. Their boys are both right around the same ages as Jax and Riley and our visits always end with great memories and full memory cards!! This trip we get to see them three times with all the back and fourth we have to do in Denver and we are getting spoiled. Here are some pics of the boys from our last visit there!!

Finally...some relief!

Here we are at mom's still... we are having a great visit but missing Daddy. We still have 2 1/2 weeks left of our visit, so much more to see and do.

For the last 10 days Riley has been sick... it was inevitable that he would get something while we were here considering he hasn't been sick since birth. It started with a bit of diarrhea and quickly mutated into vomiting...awesome. I should mention here that I have maybe been sick with vomiting twice in my life, so other than vomiting for other reasons I won't disclose here, I don't have a lot of experience in this category of child care. The two or so times that Jax has been sick I have been lucky enough to be out of town or have my hubs nearby to take care of these matters. Aaron has a superhero gene when it comes to sick kids... Jax as much as thinks about puking and Aaron has a trash can under his head rubbing his back. It is fantastic and I wish he was here to help!!!

So needless to say, a few days after Aaron leaves Riley gets sick. After a week of it we took him to urgent care. He was refusing most liquids other than water and I was worried he was dehydrating. Doc said the virus would last 7-10 days and gave us a cream to rub on Riley's wrists to help with nausea...the cream tickles when I put it on and he really seems to like it!! Today is day 10 and is the second day Riley has gone all night without throwing up. He even woke up today diarrhea free!! (which was a huge surprise considering how much he ate last night) For the last couple days he has gotten his appetite back in a major way, shoving everything he can find in his mouth and ravaging the cabinets looking for anything edible he can get his hands on. He hasn't moved more than 2 feet from the box of apple cinnamon cheerios that he carries around with him wherever he goes. If you even mention milk in his presence he high tails it to the fridge begging. He finally got some milk this morning and was completely delighted...it was pretty funny.

Here is is when I busted him with the Cheerios, sneaky boy.
Looking for something more to eat!!

"Just give me the peanut butter already!!!"

In the meantime Jaxon has discovered computer games. Nick Jr. has games for each of their shows and he is addicted...hey its better than watching TV all day right! I am really impressed with his hand eye coordination, its fun to watch him listen to the instructions and play the games all by himself, he is getting so big!

Today they are having a pumpkin festival at our event center with games and pumpkin painting...I will post pics later!!!
